What to expect from the consultation

The length of the appointment is 1h. Please arrive at least 15min in advance to fill necessary forms.

The Questionnaire:

In order to establish what different factors may be affecting your gums, Dr. Dantis will ask you quite a few questions, so you better come prepared:

  • General health: names of medication and dosages that you are taking at the moment, what other medication/ treatments/ diseases you had over the years. Your GP contact details.
  • Family health: does anyone else in your family experiences gum problems.
  • Social habits: smoking, alcohol, diet, stress.
  • Previous dental treatment: when and what kind of treatment you had over the years, how often do you see dentist and hygienist.

Teeth and Gum Assessment:

Your gums and teeth will be checked and recorded. If you had any gum charting done in the past year, please forward that to the clinic’s email prior to the appointment, or bring it with yourself. This does not mean that Dr. Dantis will not need to check everything herself, but it will allow to compare how your gums have changed since last time you had them assessed.

Dental Photography:

Photographs will be taken of your teeth to record the appearance of your teeth and gums. This helps with treatment planning and communication. It is also interesting to look back at these photographs at the end of the treatment. Don’t worry, these photographs will not be published publicly without your consent.

Dental X-rays:

If you have any X-rays done in the last year, please forward them to the clinic’s email prior to the appointment, or bring it with yourself. If they will not be sufficient, or if you will not have any, Dr. Dantis will take necessary radiographs at the appointment.

The Report:

Following the consultation, within a week you will receive a written report. It will contain your gum diagnosis, prognosis for each tooth, risk factors for disease progression, answers to your specific questions (if you had any unanswered at the consultation), initial treatment plan with fees and basic information that you should know about the gum disease.

The Fee:

The fee for the assessment is £140. It includes the assessment, consultation, X-rays and written report.
